This year Mall of AmericaÒ turns 25! Since 1992 the shopping and entertainment complex has been pulling out all the stops, constantly evolving to become the nation’s largest mall and a proud piece of Minnesota’s landscape. When the Mall first opened its doors, the building was home to 330 stores and employed more than 10,000 people.

Now, Mall of AmericaÒ houses more than 520 stores, over 50 restaurants, an amusement park and more., and employs more than 12,000 people. It recently underwent a $325 million expansion, with more plans to grow on the horizon.

Hyland Lake Park Reserve

It’s a scenic retreat in the heart of Bloomington. Hyland Lake Park offers breathtaking prairie landscapes and a major body of water as well as a large play area, the Richardson Nature Center, Hyland Hills Ski Area, an 18-hole disc golf course and a 3-hole disc golf practice area. With so much to do, this park has endless opportunities for outdoor fun.

Hyland Lake Park Reserve is part of a larger system recognized as “Hyland-Bush-Anderson Lakes Park Reserve.” The entire 2,565-acre complex is managed by the City of Bloomington and Three Rivers Park District. The City of Bloomington operates the Bush Lake and Normandale Lake facilities, while Three Rivers operates the Hyland and Anderson Lakes facilities.

Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area is located five minutes from the Mall of America, just south of Interstate 494 and Highway 100 in Bloomington, Minnesota. The ski area is nestled within the 1,000-acre Hyland Lake Park Reserve which offers extensive winter recreational activities including lighted cross country ski trails, snowshoe trails, and a Nordic ski jumping complex. Hyland is known for its snowmaking and grooming and its terrain park is full of progressive and innovative features.
